A Sad Nation

In case you hadn’t realised, this nation of ours is in one sorry mess. Over the past few weeks our newspapers and news programmes have been crammed full of the pros and cons of fox hunting and hare coursing. Thousands have been on the march clamouring either for the rights of the foxes or the rights of those who like to hunt them. No doubt tens of thousands of pounds have been spent on the campaigns of both sides. Politicians were quick to share with any lurking media their pearls of wisdom on the matter. Hours of heated debate have gone on within the walls of Westminster until finally a decision has emerged for the lords to toss around.

And while all this soul searching over the pros and cons of fox hunting is going on our nation continues to allow the murder of thousands of unborn infants in the place where they should be safest of all. Is this not another sign that our nation is sick through and through that men and women will get so hot and bothered about the rights of little furry animals and few seem to give no thought to the rights of unborn children.

In the book of Proverbs in the Bible it says, Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people . What a terrible disgrace hangs over our land at such confused thinking. Who knows what blessings our nation would enjoy if it abandoned its sinful ways and returned to the rule and authority of King Jesus.
